Why it’s a good cheap date
Cheap entry, a walkable neighbourhood, and lots of natural pauses to talk.
The National Museum is RM5 for Malaysians and shares a neighbourhood with the Lake Gardens, the Bird Park and the Islamic Arts Museum. Spend an hour indoors, then wander out into the green. It's an unhurried afternoon that feels much more expensive than it is.
Tips
- Take the MRT to Muzium Negara station. It's right at the door.
- The Islamic Arts Museum next door is RM14 and worth the upgrade.
- Bring water; the gardens are big.
Make it more romantic
- 1Find one artefact that reminds you of your grandparents and share the story.
- 2Take a photo at the garden's hibiscus bridge.
- 3Leave a note in each other's bag to find on the way home.
- 4Bring a handwritten note and hand it over at the very end.
